ABSTRACT
        This study consists of three parts, namely the briquetting, washing and burning of the Sivas-Kangal lignite.The Washing part covers the float-sink and table experiments on the laboratory scale. The experiments showed that the ash could not be removed from the coal due to its finely distrubuted occurence in the coal matrix. The briquetting was conducted in two parts. In the first part, the briquettirig properties were datermined in the lab-scale and in the light of these findings the briquetting was performed in a semi-industrial exter press. It was observed that the briquettes produced were strong enough. The burning tests were carried out in a domestic stove and the results proved to be satisfactory. The briquettes were not water stable.
