1. PREFACE
        In view of the air pollution problems in Ankara MTA has developped a method for hot-briquetting of lignite in laboratory-scale to produce smokeless fuel, which should be tested in a pilot-plant before any realization in practice. The most interested institutions TBTAK, MTA and TKİ made an agreement and started a project for trials in a pilot-Plant, to be erected in MTA's Technology Section. The project was under guidance of TBTAK. UNIDO, Vienna gave some help by an Expert, who had already supervised the laboratory work. While TBTAK was looking for the necessary eqipments including some apparatus from outside, MTA was responsible for the necessary operating staff and supply of energy. TKI had delivered the lignite for the tests.
        The agreement is valid from the 15 th January 1970 up to 26 February 1972 with an interruption of 5 months. The interruption was caused by the delivery time of the press. Extensions were necessary because the trials could not be finished in the estimated time.
