ABSTRACT
       Eastern Black Sea coast has been investigated for its heavy mineral content and large rezerves of magnetite rich sands have been discovered. The black sand along the coast between Ünye and Yeşilırmak which extends about 50 km contain 10 % magnetite in average. The visible+probable reserves of the magnetit-rich sand along this shore is about 150 million tons with a possible reserves of more than 700+ million tons.
       The concentrates easily obtained by a wet-magnetic separator contained 58 % Fe and 6-7 % TiO₂. High titaneferous orin ores, are not desirable for blast furnace; there fore it is necessary to consider the use of rotary or electrical furnaces which can be set up in the area for the reduction of iron ore.
        In conclusion, as there will be almost no blastiny, crushing, grinding and transportation costs, the exploitation and smelting of this ore is probably economically feasible.
